Ikea.

I broke my Ikea cherry this weekend on a spontaneous trip with Derrick that we treated more like a drive to Saratoga or something than all the way down to New Jerus and back. I'm not keen on the phenomenon that is inexpensive modern furnishings, so it left me both impressed and mildly bewildered.

In reality, furniture and shit to put in your house is pretty important unless you're one of my friends I guess. Still, I can't seem to wrap my head around an interior design and furniture market that warrants a store that shatters the size of my local Wal-Mart. I mean, a restaurant inside? Multi-level parking? It's my understanding that Ikea is the juggernaut of home furnishings on a global scale, and less so in the States because of places like Crate & Barrell, Pier One, and Target which have a safer, more conservative 'merican vibe to their collections. Yet the place a mammoth, and it's certainly easy to spend the American way while there. Derrick dropped some serious card on a few picture frames, two lamps, and an end table.

If I had my own digs I would've loved to have alot of things. I'm not so into the modern couches and chairs, but some of the lighting is sick. I actually debated buying this light, but it was $50 I wasn't willing to spend.
